TS1 Lesson 5

Power Point: Trust your God

Every week we teach the children about God and when they are in Kids Church it seems they are more than willing to live the Christian life, to do whatever it takes to follow Christ. But when you see them during the week, something has changed and it’s not the same kid you saw in Kid’s Church. What happened? Why are they one way in Kids Church and another way in their neighborhood? What comes in between them and God? People. People come against them. People will laugh at them for being a Christian, people will try and trick them into believing that God isn't real, people will try to hold them back from getting closer to God and people will crush them with their words. Instead of trusting their God, they begin to trust what people say. They get around other kids in their neighborhood or they get around family members and they no longer know who they should trust - God or people?

This is what the kids need to know that in every situation they must decide one thing, will they trust what people say or will they trust their God. We want them to trust their God and the only way they’re going to do that is if they stand on the Word of God! They need to measure everything to the Word of God. If someone says to them “you’re dumb” they can say, “that’s not what the Bible says, the Bible says I am fearfully and wonderfully made, I don’t trust you, I trust my God!” Teachers there are two things we need to do with this lesson:

1. Expose some of the things that people are saying to them.

2. Teach the kids to take those things that are being said and see if they line up with the Word of God. We want to see our kids living for God, not just in Kids Church but everywhere they go and to do that, they must learn to trust their God in every situation.
